Rabah Yusuf (born 11 December 1986 in Bor, Sudan) is a Sudanese athlete.
Yousif lives in the United Kingdom, is married to a British woman, and has two children; a son born in 2006, and a daughter born in 2009. Yusuf has won a number of athletics events in his adopted country. He finished third in the men's 400 metres event at the AAA Championships in 2005.[1] He set a new record (45.72 seconds) at the 400 metres event of the Bedford International Games in 2007.[2] He won the event again in 2008, with a time of 47.05 seconds.[3]
In 2005, it was reported that Yusuf was seeking British citizenship.[4][5] In 2007, he was described as "one of Britain’s brightest hopes for an Olympic medal", but it was reported that a judge had turned down his asylum plea, and that he faced deportation.[6] In 2008, he was apparently still living part-time in the United Kingdom,[7] "splitting his time between Khartoum and married life in the English town of Middlesbrough."[8]
Yusuf qualified to represent the Sudan in the 400 metres event at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.[9]
